As advised at the AGM and in previous notices the Monthly Payment scheme will become compulsory from 1st January 2007. From this date NO sessions can be paid for on a session by session basis. In addition the scheme will only be payable via Standing Order.

Age Groups 2006
Going well so far with some great results. Well done to all those that have recorded PBs and those who have gained Midland Qualification Times. You can check out the full results service on the LASA web site www.lasa-results.org.uk. The results are not posted immediately, but should be there at some point during the week following the weekend’s events. You can either type in an Event, Name or Club to get the results you want.
Monthly Payments
The scheme has now been introduced and many members have already taken advantage and paid. Full details of why we have implemented such a scheme was explained at the Parents Meeting last week, but if you would like to know more, please speak to Gill, Mark or Eddie at training. Basically, if you come twice a week it just about breaks even (and you don’t have to find cash every time) – if you come three times a week, you are far better off joining the scheme.
Pool Problems
The problem with the humidity/heating continues at LLC. We are in regular contact the centre management over this issue and are told they are working hard to fix problem. The last we heard, the contractors were due to replace certain parts within the Plant Room.
Timetrials
With the Leicester Diddy league approaching fast, Timetrials are to be held this Thursday (9th March) at 6pm till 7pm at LLC. Sarah, Caroline and Tracey will then use the results for selection of the Diddy teams in the forthcoming galas/leagues. We do have times for some swimmers on our database, but feel they may be a little out of date.
ALL Swimmers (even new club members) who are 9 yrs this year, up to 12 yrs old can swim at these trials – in fact we encourage it. Please bring along a T-shirt for poolside.
Education Workshop
We are planning to hold two Education Workshops in the near future. One will be on Nutrition and the other on Race Preparation/Mental Attitude/Doping issues. These workshops will be run by Rachael Hares and Julie Douglas from the Lboro Uni squad and will be open to ALL Swimmers and Parents and will last for between 45mins and 1 hour. Parents need to be educated on these subjects as well. Keep an eye on the notice board and web site for further details.
Easter Holidays
We are finalising our days off for the Easter Holiday period and a leaflet will be available for you soon.
Parents Meeting
Sarah has printed her points/items covered from the Parents Meeting (please see the link below). Thanks to all those that attended the meeting. Some good points were covered on the night and thanks for your input. It is planned to hold another Parents Meeting before the summer.
Parents/Swimmers meeting - Coach's notes
Welcome
Since our return to LLC, we have had many new swimmers join the club. The committee and coaches would like to welcome you all and if you need any information or details about the club, please don’t be afraid to ask or phone Mark (07971 165928) who will gladly try and answer your questions and queries. The club web site is a good place to find out club details/information and is regularly up dated – www.ltsc.org.uk
27/02/06 - Parents/Swimmers Meeting
A meeting for ALL parents and swimmers of the club has been arranged for:
Thursday 2nd March 2006 at 6.45pm
in Activity Room 1 at Loughborough Leisure Centre
Since the appointment of Sarah James as Head Coach in January, we have identified many areas for improvement, these will all be discussed at this meeting and it is in your best interest to attend, in order that you find out what’s happening or going to happen at the club in the very near future.
Click here for full details and agenda.
23/02/06 - Important Changes and Swim Fees
Following a review of the Club's finances and how members pay for swim sessions, it has been agreed to introduce the following from the 1st March:
For one hour sessions the cost will remain unchanged at £2.00
For one and a half hour sessions the will be increased to £3.00
Sessions at the University pool will be increased to £3.50 (subject to room in the pool)
The committee has also agreed to introduce a monthly payment scheme from 1st March to be paid by cheque or cash, with a transfer to standing order from May. THe monthly payment scheme will be as follows:
Improvers £18.00
Development £22.00
Groups 1, 2 & 3 and Masters £27.00
Students £20.00 (subject to production of NUS card)
The club is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah James as our new Head Coach.
As you know, Sarah has been helping at the club for a few weeks now and so is known to nearly all of you.
Over the next few weeks Sarah will be working with Eddie, Steve and the rest of the coaches/teachers within the club to go through the sessions and overall plan, familiarise herself with all the clubs swimmers and get to know the parents as well - so please make her welcome.
Sarah has been there and done it as far as swimming is concerned.
She has swum for Loughborough University and Stockport Metro and achieved Bronze and Silver medals at National Youth Championships at 800m, 400m and 400mIM. Selected for European Junior Championships in 2002 in 400m freestyle. World Class Potential Programme 2002/3 and 2003/4, representing Great Britain in Paris World Cup. Attended Great Britain Senior Pre-Olympic Camp in Australia, September/October 2003.
We have all waited so long for Loughborough Leisure Centre to open - so with a new Head Coach, great new facilities, together with existing pools at Soar Valley, Grammar School, Burleigh College and Loughborough University, all in one new timetable, the next few weeks and months should see some tremendous improvements at LTSC. Again, please make Sarah welcome and give her support in her new role.
20/12/05 - Loughborough Leisure Centre Re-Opening
As you have probably heard, Loughborough Leisure Centre will not be open on Monday 2nd January as planned. The opening date will now be Saturday 14th January and therefore we will be be able to start the 2006 timetable on Sunday 15th January. Until then, please check this temporary timetable for training times.
Until we get a feel of how the numbers etc will work under the new timetable, it has been decided that on a Thursday, swimmers should come to Loughborough Leisure Centre at the same time as they were at Soar Valley.
